The 2nd Annual Highland Cup Date Announced!
The 2nd Annual Highland Cup will be held February 21, 2009. Start your recipes now, and stay posted for a new list of restrictions! Lagers and ales will be accepted. No fruit beers, meads, and ciders please!
New Seasonals!
Highland recently released the first in its new line of seasonal beers--Shining Rock Lager. This “shining example” of our spring seasonal has a complex malty body enhanced with traditional spicy noble hops. This Bock is a medium body lager with a smooth, crisp finish. A creamy head tops this fine Bock with the usual Highland twist on style. Next in Highland's seasonal line will be our summer offering--Cattail Peak Wheat--due to be released in July. The Clawhammer Oktoberfest will follow in mid to late September, and Cold Mountain Winter Ale in November will lead us into a festive holiday season!
We congratulate Larry Brock, Professional Highland Games Athlete, on his 2007 achievements:
2007 UNITED STATES NATIONAL CHAMPION
2007 WORLD HAMMER CHAMPION
2007 WORLD STONE PUTT CHAMPION
2007 SAAA U.S. NATIONAL CHAMPION

The Latest of the Imperial Series - Last fall, we brewed an Imperial Kashmir IPA, an aggressively hopped and higher gravity version of our Kashmir IPA. We're selling the remaining beer directly from the brewery for $10 per 22 oz. bottle. We can accept cash or check, and photo identification is required to accept a check and to confirm legal age.
Going Strong - In November 2006, we moved to our new East Asheville location next to the Blue Ridge Motion Pictures Studio. Although we are now able to brew all our beer locally and no longer need Wild Goose Brewery to help meet demand, we appreciate their help during the transition to our new brewery. If you have recently purchased Highland beer with a label stating it was brewed in Maryland, please contact us so that we can replace it with fresh beer.
Award Winning Beers - Our Black Mocha Stout brought home a silver medal in the prestigious Brewer's Association World Beer Cup 2006 International Beer Championship. The competition drew 2221 entries from 540 breweries in 56 countries.
More Award Winning Brews - We also won several medals in the 2008 Carolina Championship of Beer. Our St. Terese's Pale Ale and Black Mocha Stout won silver medals; and our Oatmeal Porter, Kashmir IPA, Gaelic Ale, and Imperial Kashmir earned bronze.
The United States Beer Tasting Championship awarded Highland Gaelic Ale Best of the Mid-Atlantic Region in the Amber/Red Ale category and included St. Terese's Pale Ale in the "Also Exceptional" list. Visit www.usbtc.com for a complete list of categories and winners.
